SSD with Data Caching
What's a solid-state drive (SSD)? What is SSD caching and how does it work? Discover the key advantages of hosting your web sites on an SSD-powered server.
A solid-state drive (SSD) enhances the performance of every application running on it compared to an ordinary hard-disk drive (HDD). The reason is that a solid-state drive uses a variety of interconnected flash memory modules, so there're no physical parts to move. In contrast, a hard-disk drive functions with spinning disks and every reading or writing process causes the disks to rotate, meaning the speed of an HDD is fixed. Since the cost of the two types of drives also differ, numerous computer systems and web servers are set up with an SSD for the OS and random applications, and a hard-disk drive for data storage, thus balancing price and overall performance. A hosting provider could also use a solid-state drive for caching purposes, so files that are used frequently will be saved on such a drive for achieving improved loading speeds and for minimizing the reading/writing processes on the hard drives.

SSD with Data Caching in Hosting
In case you host your websites in a
hosting account from us, you'll definitely notice their exceptional performance. This is because our cloud platform uses exclusively SSD drives for all files, email addresses and databases and we don't use HDDs for any part of the website hosting service. Together with the state-of-the-art ZFS file system, this configuration will raise the speed of your websites tremendously. For load-balancing, we also use a number of SSDs for caching purposes only. All the content which generates more traffic or creates plenty of reading/writing processes is duplicated on them promptly, so the load on the primary drives will be reduced, thus the overall performance of all Internet sites hosted with us will improve. This in turn prolongs the life of the main drives and decreases the possibility of a disk failure, that is an additional guarantee for the reliability of any content which you upload to your account.

SSD with Data Caching in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All
semi-dedicated hosting accounts that we provide are made on a cloud platform that employs only SSD drives. We do not use HDDs anymore, so your sites will load very fast since we use SSDs for every part of the service - files, databases and e-mails. As some customers may host sites which are more popular than others, we also use a number of drives for caching. Our system detects all the content which is loaded more often and copies it on these drives in order to load it from them. This configuration is used for load-balancing purposes as we guarantee that several reading/writing intensive websites will not influence the performance of the rest of the websites which are stored on the same primary drive. Using caching drives also raises the life-span of the main storage SSDs and reduces the chance of disk failures.
